HBB team member prays for a woman in a small village churchRomania had been for many years under the cloud of communism, where freedom of religion and freedom to dream of peace and justice was fleeting. Emerging from the hand of communism in 1989, Romania now stands as a democracy, but yet suffers from extreme poverty in many of its regions and territories. In addition, the Roman Orthodox Church makes up 86.7% of the population.

HBB is currently partnering with a few non-denominational church planters who have led a massive church planting movement where, in just a decade, over 600 village and city churches have been planted. We are supporting their efforts and looking into ways to assist with community development initiates with indigenous leaders and pastors.

One of the lead church planters recently reported, “The news of the Gospel of Jesus, brought by the latest messengers of God are spread from mouth to mouth. Your visit was a big encouragement for all churches in Romania and the people who met you feel very blessed.”

Did you know that the average American household contains 4 bibles? For many of us that number can jump even higher. Can bfr_cause2you imagine traveling to church every day before heading to work just to hear someone read from the bible because you didn't have your own copy? This is a reality for many in Romania so we have decided to team up with some church planters there to provide bibles in the Romanian language. It is our goal to send 10,000 bibles to Romania within the next year. Each bible costs only $5.
